In his second epistle, Peter writes, “And we have the prophetic word made more firm, to which you do well to give heed as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (1:19). As New Testament believers, this word is key to our functioning in the tabernacle, our churching today, as God’s royal priesthood (1 Pet. 2:5). Such priests carry the prophetic words — the Lord’s living words — as a testimony of light from our tabernacling in this dark age.
Today, our tabernacling is for carrying the living words which requires a condition of light. As priests in the Holy Place, we are eating the showbread in the light of the lampstand. The showbread is Christ, the bread of life, the Person shining in His words. Whenever we come to the table, we take heed to the prophetic words; the shining is within our beings. In this eating we meet Him as light. We eat until the morning star rises in us. Fundamentally, we are no longer dim from our sinful and worldly desires; we are bright! In this clear leading through His words, He reveals Himself to be lived out through us — to be made firm, shine, and deposit to those in darkness.
Today, as priests, our testimony is a bright condition; whenever we speak, we have the light in us shining. When all around us is dim, as the church, we are the lampstand and stars shining to this generation navigating towards the Lord’s return (Rev. 1:16).
